The plain-English version first

Your invention descriptions are stored as your saved searches, scoped to your account. To run a search, we send your description to our AI provider so it can plan queries and read candidate documents. The references that come back are drawn from the public patent record. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your descriptions to train models. Deleting your account deletes your data. The rest of this page is the detail behind those sentences.

1. What we collect

  • Account data — name, email, hashed authentication credentials.
  • Content you submit — invention descriptions, titles, and the searches, reports and monitors built from them.
  • Usage and request data — API request logs (endpoint, status, latency, request id), quota counters, IP-derived rate-limit buckets.
  • Billing data — subscription state and invoices via Stripe. Card numbers never touch our servers.

2. How invention descriptions are used

A description is used to run the search you asked for, and for nothing else. Specifically: it is sent to our AI provider to extract claim elements, plan corpus queries and score candidate references; the derived queries are sent to the public patent corpus; and the description plus results are stored as a saved search in your account so you can revisit them. We do not use your descriptions to train models, do not share them with other users, and do not sell them — or any other data — to anyone.

3. Where results come from

Every reference in a search or report comes from the public patent record. Reference data (titles, abstracts, claims) is public information; what stays private is the fact that you searched for it and the description that drove the search.

4. Subprocessors

  • AI provider — processes descriptions to run searches and reports.
  • Supabase — managed Postgres database and authentication.
  • Vercel — application hosting.
  • Stripe — payments and subscription billing.

Each processes data only to provide its service to us, under its own data-protection terms.

5. Retention and deletion

Saved searches and reports are kept until you delete them or your account. Deleting your account deletes your searches, reports, monitors, API keys and request logs; backups age out on a fixed schedule thereafter. Request deletion in the app or by emailing support@patent77.com.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies for authentication sessions. Anonymous rate-limiting uses short-lived, IP-derived counters, not tracking profiles. The free patent-lookup tool stores nothing about what you look up.

7. Your rights

You can access, export, correct or delete your data. Depending on where you live (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA and similar), these are legal rights; we honour them for everyone regardless. Contact support@patent77.com.

8. Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will note it here with a new date and email account holders. See also the security practices page and terms of service.
